The battery on my 4110 has leaked out and got acid on my radiator. I cleaned it off and repainted. I called the Dealer and he said someone must have put to much acid in the battery, when I told him they are the only ones that touched before I bought it. I asked him if they would be responsible for it and he said there is nothing on the warranty that covers it. I priced a new Optima Battery (119.00) which is not a regular Starting Battery, but a RV typ. Any other Batteries that would eliminate the leakage?

There have been other posts of the problem on the Deeres and some have just resigned themselves to the fact that it is the nature of the beast and clean that area regularly. It is not a good situation to allow go on as it will cause damage to other parts of the tractor. The price that you have on the optima battery doesn't look bad and it might help you. If yuo look back on the JD posts you might come up with your solution. ....

This seems to be a fairly common problem on tractors that have the battery mounted in front of the radiator. I won't say your dealer is blowing smoke because overfilling the battery will increase outgassing, but some outgassing is gonna happen anyway. I mentioned it to the dealer and they gave me a battery vent cap that vents through a tube that extends under the tractor. This way the battery gases aren't sucked through the radiator by the fan. Check out my pic #18. Others have gotten these type of caps from their JD dealers as well. They should come standard. ....

Last weekend my wife and I went out to get a Christmas tree at a nearby tree farm. The particular farm we frequent buys New Holland equipment exclusively. They had one on display as a promo for a local dealer. As I was looking at the brand new machine my wife informed me that I should have bought "the blue one" instead of "the orange one" because it was a "prettier color". Sheesh. ....
